Bankstown North Public School

JDH Architects were engaged by the NSW Department of Education to provide design and documentation for the redevelopment of Bankstown North Public School. This Project provides the opportunity to deliver quality school infrastructure to meet the current and future educational needs for the school. The aim of this project was to create activated spaces that enhance learning. The concept was designed in response to the immediate context, as well as the significant natural features which have been identified. The main concept of the proposed project explores the opportunity of ‘connections’, both in a physical sense and visual. This idea would see the natural features i.e. the identified biodiversity are and significant trees on site, the connections to the proposed hear (central playground) of the school, and the physical connection to a mature Lemon Scented Gum tree identified on site. These key features influenced the layout and the build form of the design.
