Lidcombe Public School

This project consists of a whole school upgrade, including a new learning with fourteen innovative learning spaces, administration and staff building, and refurbishment of the heritage library. This resulting design encompasses the school’s commitment to future-focused learning in an innovative, state-of-the-art environment. Versatile multifunctional spaces connect via large breakout and practical activity areas to accommodate a range of curriculum requirements and stages of development. Glazed sliding walls reveal external learning opportunities in the under-croft, central covered outdoor learning area and balconies, permitting all-weather activities and enhancing visual-physical connectivity. Passive environmental design elements include durable materials, building orientation, natural ventilation, solar energy, maximised green spaces, and increased experiences of sustainability and nature through everyday actions. Lidcombe School exemplifies 21st-century educational design by creating vibrant and diverse multipurpose facilities within a historic precinct for the whole community to enjoy.
