The brief for the renovation of this freestanding Federation cottage was to maximise floor space whilst conforming to rigid council provisions for buildings within a heritage conservation area.
Alterations and additions were made to create a contemporary five-bedroom family home hidden behind a deceptive Federation facade. The internal redesign of the home responds to its naturally sloping site to the rear with an innovative internal three-level structure.
Dramatic open voids flood the interiors with natural light and are penetrated by a series of mezzanine and bridge structures which link the living, entertaining and accommodation spaces to create a harmonious and versatile contemporary living space.
Sleek, streamlined interiors have been tailored to suit the needs of its occupants whilst respecting the intrinsic architectural appeal of the original structure.
