St Brigid’s Catholic Primary School, Marrickville
Established in 1887 with a focus on Catholic values, St Brigid’s Catholic Primary School is located in Sydney’s inner west suburb of Marrickville.
The school is founded on the strong belief in developing partnerships to inspire students to value the learning process and encourages positive contributions of all community members to empower students to make a difference in their world.
JDH Architects was engaged to reconstruct the school’s Stage 3 learning centre after an unfortunate fire broke out in 2016. The brief for this project was clear and with an emphasis on future-focused learning, embedded by the four Cs of 21st century learning – collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and communication.
Recognising the school’s focus on both collaborative and individual learning, JDH Architects used human-centred design to co-create learning spaces that enable the collaboration required to embed deeper learning.
By forging a seamless connection between pedagogy, technology, and space, we were able to create learning spaces that echo the school’s pedagogy, entice new ways of working and create genius labs where students, teachers and the community co-create the learning.
